When Harry Styles visits a fish and chip shop, you can be sure that it will not be a normal affair...
Never has fish and chips been so chic. Saturated newspaper print across your hands, and the fragrant eau du 'COD' and a distinct lack of bad interior design can only mean one thing. You are in a chip shop in England. The antithesis of refined high end fashion, the fish and chip shop, an iconic hallmark for the english. A venue whereby ‘one’ can run in for a takeaway of deeply fried fish and a mountain of chips (thick french fries) clad in both vinegar and salt.
The fish and chip shop sadly does not carry the same chic appeal that the burger chains of today do, with their highly polished offering of an array of burgers, toppings, sides and shakes set against some exposed brick wall surroundings, yet the humble chip shop is by all account basic, a basic establishment that holds a special place in us Brits hearts (next to a clogged artery). But this is not what we are here for. Of course, Gucci have taken another British icon that is the chip shop and managed to fasten a campaign with another British icon Harry Styles.
24 years old, and Harry is just rocking is more ways than one way. Alessandro Michele, seems to love dressing Harry in Gucci and it seems he not only likes it but wears it well. Often spotted in suiting from Gucci and the Savile Row icon Edward Sexton when on stage, Harry sports each with such ease. As such he has now been dialled in for the latest Gucci campaign ‘GUCCI TAILORING AT THE CHIPPY’
Set at a fish and chip shop in northern England, Harry Styles is the centre of this St Albans based affair. He is seen in an array of embroidered checked suits both placing orders and munching away, and he also brings a chicken with him. If you think this does not make sense, then you are not well versed in Gucci campaigns and the LSD come-down approach they are fond of nor are you aware of the eclecticism of Glen Luchford and the art direction of Christopher Simmonds.
And do you know what... we love it, it’s Harry Styles, It’s Gucci, it’s a fish and chip shop in north England and it feels absurdly natural.
