Hervé Léger are shaking things up, as such a new appointment has been made. Enter Christian Juul Nielsen, this comes shortly after last years acquisition by the Authentic Brands Group.
Who is Christian Juul Nielsen?
A previous senior designer at Christian Dior womenswear, a Consulting Design Director at J.Mendel , the Design director at Oscar de la Renta and a stint at Nina Ricci as Designer. Additionally his last role is that of Creative Director of contemporary brand Land of Distraction. Safe to say Nielsen has varied experience, which we are hoping will inject an required energy to the Hervé Léger brand. He is currently working on the new collection, and we are hoping for a debut collection at the upcoming New York Fashion Week.
Hervé Léger History
Founded in the 1980’s, by Hervé Peugnet, Hervé Léger is globally known for its iconic bandage dresses. Interestingly enough, none other than Karl Lagerfeld advised Peugnet that his surname would be too difficult for Americans, the target market, to pronounce, and instead suggested the surname Léger.
Léger famously knits their bandage dresses. The dresses are immediately recognised and labelled as "body-con" (body-conscious) made using materials associated with foundation garments to create a bandage-like dresses that would hold, mould and shape the wearer's figure with its signature bandage design. As such celebrities and royals jumped to wear the bandage dress brand since 1993 and has been seen on the likes of Beyonce, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Cindy Crawford, Margot Robbie an the Duchess of Sussex . It cuts a power like presence, providing a figure hugging confidence, in other words its like watching the outfits from an episode of Suits.
Time will tell if Christian Juul Nielsen can add a new layer to breathe life into the brand.
