Pharrell Williams has been busy. Opening a new Miami restaurant named The Swan with nightlife impresario ‘the groot’ aka David Grutman. Issuing a ‘Cease and Desist’ order to Donald Trump for playing his hit song ‘Happy’ at a political rally. And now Pharrell has revealed that he is to design a capsule collection with Chanel.
Pharrell recently sat alongside his wife Helen Lasichanh and son Rocket at the 2018 Cruise show in Bangkok, clad in Chanel logos on a yellow hoodie, which did not look to familiar. Post show it was revealed that this was Pharrell's own design and he confirmed that a collection was “coming soon”
It will be part of a ready-to-wear and accessories edit for spring/summer 2019. The bad news to UK residents is that the entire collection will debut exclusively on March 29th at the new Seoul flagship, then onwards to select Chanel stores across the world from April 4.
This is not the first time Pharrell has worked with Chanel, infact he has on numerous occasions. Starring in a number of the house's campaigns, writing a song for an original film CC The World by Karl Lagerfeld and he even featured in the campaign Metiers d’Art collection Paris-Salzburg 2014-15. Two years on, Pharrell walked as one of the models for the Metiers d’Art collection 2016-17 show which took place at the then recently opened Ritz in Paris.
Last year, Pharrell was the brainchild behind the Adidas and Chanel collaboration with the launch of the Hu NMD sneaker, the shoe upon release was immediately on the re-sale market north of £9000 and spotted at £30000 at one point.
